Dog Harness
Men started domesticating animals since ancient times. Some animals have served men for food, like pigs and chickens. Other animals and their parts have been used for ornamentation, such as birds feathers. There are also animals that have been used for transportation of people and goods, like mules. And of course, warfare used animals as late as World War II.
Among those animals, the dog has been the closest companion of men in several activities. Dogs are useful, practical, friendly, and of course, loyal. When you arrive home, your dog will always shower you with demonstration of affections, which can cheer you up even on the worst of days.
Although dogs are considered nowadays as pets by most people, they are still used for several valuable activities. For example, they will guard your house or property, barking at any intruder that breaks into your home. This is enough to make the burglar flee, in particular if he wasnt expecting to find your pet.
Some people still train dogs for hunting, finding and pointing out the pray for their masters and bringing it back once its been killed. Fortunately, this practice is becoming less common these days.
Dogs serve humans in several other ways, but for those activities they need a dog harness. A dog harness is a set of pieces that is attached to a dog to secure it, very similar to the harnesses that horses wear.
A dog harness is built out of several materials, depending on the particular activity the dog will engage in. Unlike a collar, a dog harness will distribute the force applied to the dog much more evenly over its body, instead of concentrating it on the dogs neck. This allows the dog to pull more effectively and tire less. It also avoids choking and discomfort on the dogs neck.
Dogs usually wear a dog harness when they need to pull something. Although horses are used for pulling heavy loads, dogs are more effective in certain situations, for example, when pulling a sleight. The type of dog harness differs whether the priority is speed of load capacity.
Some dogs are also used to pull wheelchairs. A dog harness made for the specific needs of the disabled person is necessary. Sometimes the leash has to have adjustable length, so that the dog can be trained to fetch objects for the person.
Finally, perhaps the noblest use of a dog harness is for guiding a blind person. In this case, the leash is short so that the dog walks alongside the blind person, helping him or her avoid dangerous hazards. Most countries have laws that allow guide dogs inside public places, even when other pets are denied entry.
Dogs have done all these and more during years. With all these qualities and services, its no wonder that dog is considered Mans Best Friend.
