Nicole and Natalie Albino are the voices that make up Nina Sky. Though they music was part of their lives ever since they were kids, Nina Sky girls only launched songs on the market in 2004. They both play drums and the guitar and they were educated in a very eclectic music background by their DJ step dad. They composed  their first song at the age of seven and made dreams of becoming singers by the age of ten. It took some very good years afterwards for Nina Sky to finally get the chance to show artistic talent on stage.

Before hitting the charts, the girls from Nina Sky worked as DJs and started developing their own sound under the guidance of two musical producers, Elijah Wells and Lionel Bermingham, known as the Jettsonz. Through this connection, Nina Sky came to work on their first single Move Ya Body that combined Caribbean rhythms with some R&B beats. The demo version of the song was very much to the liking of a division president from Universal Records, and things started to go smoothly for Nina Sky.

Move Ya Body was the single that opened many doors for Nina Sky but they had to set higher goals for their musical career. It was time to focus on music promotion, and they concentrated all their attention in this direction particularly, with their efforts rewarded by the increased appreciation for reggaeton music on both sides of the Atlantic. At the end of 2007, Nina Sky finished their business relation with Universal Records and went for J Records, for an album that is still under work. In the meantime Nina Sky made various remixes of other hits like J. Holiday’s Bed or Cassidy’s  My Drink n My 2 Steps.

Nina Sky songs address pretty varied topics from love themes and friendship to loss and bitter stuff of an emotional nature. On the other hand the beat of their music is vivid with nice R&B notes that don’t get unnoticed on the dance floor Nina Sky even participated to the writing of the famous Betty Wright’s song You Deserve for which they also collaborated as guest vocalists. With only two albums, lots of remixes and collaborations, there are many other things to expect from Nina Sky. Will there be a reorientation in style or will they follow the same beat? It remains to see.

Learning music theory is essential for all dedicated musicians even if they can play instruments or sing even without knowing how to read music sheets. After all, there’s no real substitute for one’s ability, right? Sure, you can play good music and form a rock band and be an excellent musician without learning music theory, but there’s so much more to your music that you can probably express better if you familiar with music theory.

Here’s an analogy that might be pretty helpful as you make up your mind about whether you’ll be familiar with music theory or not. It is believed that writers are definitely made. There are only a select few who can really write and interpret their thoughts into poetry or prose. But studying the intricacies of language such as grammar and vocabulary is a knowledge and additional tool that a writer can use to relay his thoughts and ideas more effectively. Being truly at ease with wordplay requires that you know the grammar of your language first. One’s comprehension in language can truly enrich a writer’s sense on the art of writing. But having to know the ins and outs of language and grammar does not necessarily mean that one can be a writer that easily.

An example is a person who likes cooking. Some people can naturally understand how food elements can work and how a combination of flavors can create a wonderful dish. A person can sometimes naturally understand how certain ingredients work and how taste and flavor can make a wonderful dish. A wonderful dish made of a combination of tastes can be understood by an individual who naturally knows how ingredients work. But this gift for understanding tastes and flavors can be improved if one can manage to go to a cooking lesson and learn the basics of cooking. This will provide a orderly way of learning and you’ll be able to make sense of the things that frequently came naturally.

In short, in order to be able to bend rules, one would have to recognize the rules first. Playing the guitar just by utilizing of one’s ear is quite great. Steve Krenz gives it to us raw in his course, Learn & Master Guitar. You can be a wonderful guitar player just by having that talent to recognize notes and put them together without using music sheets. But you should be familiar with the music theory if you truly want to master guitar playing. Since you speak the same language and are educated with the “grammar” or technicalities of music, it is easier to share your music with other musicians especially if you write your own music. Real talent though, can never be replaced or substituted even if you are familiar with the different notes of music like the back of your hand.

However, even if finding the discipline that it takes to truly master music theory can’t make an artist out of a musician, it can at least teach you how to make good music. In due time, good music can be considered inspired music. Consistency and hard work will eventually pay off at the closing stages in the end.

If you want to learn and master guitar techniques or just be able to grasp simple music theory, there are music schools to help you. The advantage of technology is that more information is also already made available for you online. You’ll find it with no trouble if you just go and search the internet.
